What is a Psychosocial Recovery Coach?
A Recovery Coach is a trained professional who walks alongside you on your journey to recovery from addiction, mental health challenges, or other life disruptions. We offer guidance, support, and accountability as you:
Identify your goals: What does recovery mean to you? What do you want to achieve?
Develop a recovery plan: We’ll work together to create a roadmap for your journey, with clear steps and strategies.
Overcome challenges: We’ll help you navigate obstacles, build resilience, and develop coping mechanisms.
Connect with resources: We can link you with other NDIS suitable supports, community services, and treatment options.
Build a fulfilling life: Recovery is about more than just overcoming challenges; it’s about creating a life you love.
How Can NDIS Help?
If you have an NDIS plan, recovery coaching may be funded under your Capacity Building supports, specifically under “Improved Daily Living.” This funding helps you develop skills and strategies to manage your disability and live more independently.
Am I Eligible for NDIS Funding?
To be eligible for NDIS funding, you must meet the following criteria:
Age: You must be under 65 years old.
Residency: You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category visa.
Disability: You must have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to participate in everyday activities.
Support Needs: You must require support from the NDIS to live a full and meaningful life.
How Do I Access Recovery Coaching through NDIS?
Contact the NDIS: Discuss your needs and goals with your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC).
Find a provider: Look for a recovery coach who fits the NDIS recommendations.
Remember, I am a NDIS suitable provider for self managed funding. If you have a managed NDIS plan you must go through a provider that is registered with the NDIS directly, this is not me. I can only provide NDIS services to individuals on a self managed plan who can choose non registered NDIS providers to suit their individual needs. Consider switching your NDIS funding to self managed).
Develop your plan: Work with me as your recovery coach and NDIS planner to include recovery coaching in your NDIS plan.
Submitting an NDIS Claim for Capacity Building Psychosocial Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaches
Hi I am Mary Bugeja,
Navigating the NDIS can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding the right support for your recovery journey. As a co-dependency recovery coach with extensive experience, I understand the challenges you face. A common question I hear is, “How do I submit a claim for Capacity Building Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaches?”
Let’s simplify the process together.
Confirm Funding
Check your NDIS plan: Your plan is your guide. Ensure it includes funding for Capacity Building – Support Coordination and/or Psychosocial Recovery Coaches. This funding might be a specific line item or fall under a broader category, giving you flexibility.
Choose a Provider
Plan-Managed or Self-Managed: If your plan is plan-managed or self-managed, you have the power to choose your provider. This means you can opt for a registered NDIS provider or explore the benefits of working with an NDIS unregistered provider like myself. (This means I am not directly registered with NDIS, however I do provide NDIS Services under the category of “capacity building- support coordination and or psychosocial recovery coaches for those who have the freedom to choose their own provider under a self managed NDIS plan).
Why Choose an Unregistered Provider like Me?
Truly Personalised Approach: Unregistered providers who are suitable to NDIS self managed clients often offer a more individualised and tailored approach. I have the flexibility to deeply understand your unique needs and goals, creating a plan that truly aligns with your recovery journey.
Specialised Expertise: I bring years of experience specifically in co-dependency and addiction recovery. This specialised knowledge allows me to offer support that may be difficult to find elsewhere, focusing on the underlying emotional and relational patterns that contribute to co-dependency.
Stronger Connection: As an unregistered NDIS provider, I can prioritise building a strong, supportive relationship with you. We can work collaboratively, fostering trust and open communication throughout your recovery.
Things to Consider with Unregistered Providers
Due Diligence: It’s important to do your research. Look for qualifications, experience, and a proven track record. My services align with the Registration Group 06: ‘Assistance In Coordinating Or Managing Life Stages, Transitions And Supports’. I am committed to providing high-quality services.
Claiming Process: You (or your plan manager) will manage the claiming process, which may involve paying upfront and then claiming reimbursement from the NDIS. I’m happy to provide you the information you need to meet NDIS funding requirements, making the process as smooth as possible.
Where to Find Providers
You can find providers like me through online searches, community referrals, or by reaching out to organisations specialising in co-dependency and addiction recovery.
Key Things to Look for in a Provider
Experience and expertise: Do they have a deep understanding of co-dependency and addiction? I do!
Values and approach: Do they prioritise your empowerment and autonomy? I do.
Communication and availability: Are they responsive and accessible? I am.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
Contact Me directly: I offer a free consultation where we can discuss your needs and explore how I can support you. This is an opportunity to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit.
Service agreement: If you decide to work with me, we’ll create a service agreement that outlines the services and associated costs.
Claiming Process
Provider claims: I’m happy to assist with the giving you the details your need to make the claiming process easy, ensuring you receive the support you deserve.
Important Notes
Provider choice: You have the right to choose your own provider and change providers if needed.
Communication: Open communication is essential for a successful recovery journey.
Remember
NDIS website: The NDIS website (ndis.gov.au) is a valuable resource.
Contact the NDIS: Don’t hesitate to contact the NDIS directly with any questions.
If you’re ready to embark on a path towards healing and lasting change, I encourage you to reach out and join my other NDIS clients. Let’s work together to create a personalised plan that empowers you to achieve your goals.
